“That’s why they call it work.” Ever hear this? Well we think it’s just not true when it comes to networking. It should be something you look forward to. After all, we’re talking about meeting new and interesting people and then maintaining a relationship with them.
Marketing, and that’s what we’re talking about, be it for yourself or your company, should be fun. It’s a chance to be creative, describe interesting experiences, visit new places, and make new friends. We advocate “Networking for Life”, not just when you need a new job.
As experienced and successful networkers and consultants, we’ve been asked many times how we do what we do. We tell people it’s not rocket science. It’s just thinking and acting in ways that engage and stimulate those you meet. You don’t have to read a hundred books and learn a system. You need to figure out what’s comfortable for you and how to use your own style and abilities to their maximum potential. Even introverts tell us we make it easy for them to network!
