Off To Africa
Yesterday and today are crazy days in Steve’s World. This afternoon I’m off to Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa for the Wharton Global Consulting Practicum. 2 days of travel to get there, 6 days on the ground, 2 days back. But…lots of opportunities to connect with new people while I’m there, not to mention all the people I’ll talk to along the way. And I’m meeting some diamond people so maybe they’ll give me a little shiny present…which just might help me get that date I keep talking about.
Pictures from my last trip to Africa:
Since I last wrote, we had a big snowstorm. It was great since it gave me an excuse to spend the entire day…except when shoveling…reaching out to people I hadn’t talked to in awhile. As usual, these calls led to a couple of referrals, a few breakfast appointments, agreeing to visit Paris (this was a hard one), and confirming that I was willing to do an EOS presentation for which we set a few tentative dates.
I don’t understand why I don’t do this more often: take a day just to catch up and re-connect with people. And I really don’t understand why some people never do this…and then complain that they don’t meet anyone new or get good referrals. Not that anyone reading this would ever fall into this category of people.
I had that breakfast meeting with Dave Reibstein (as mentioned in the last post), owner of Home Marketing Consultants. We had a great time…including fighting over the check which I cleverly let him grab. He is going to help my parents sell their house and I am going to help him become a Global Power.
Dave is the most recent in a long line of new clients that came through a networking referral. As I mention above…take some time and reach out to all your connections. They really do know some people who are looking for you.
Why, when I sat down at my computer early this morning there was a note from someone I know asking me for some dates when she can introduce me to a business owner who she is convinced…will want to install EOS to run his business to perfection. Whoo Hooo!
