Stories

Sometimes we see these wonderful testimonials from “WR” or “Senior VP Sales” or even “Bill G, Manager IT”.  Steve’s been trying to find WR for years to ask him/her/it about a company he/she/it apparently liked.  So we figured we would make it real easy for you.  After all, if someone isn’t willing to put their name to a testimonial how can you possibly know they really mean it?  (okay, we did slip one in without a company name but you can talk to the client if you want to)

So although we sometimes shamelessly plug ourselves…we are really good, after all…we’re quite proud to be able to share some nice words about us written by those who best know what we can do…our clients.  Enjoy, we sure do.

“I had the opportunity to work with Steve while I was at Watson Machinery and later after starting Performance Associates. Steve is an excellent strategist and is great at anticipating and pointing out things that our “blind spots” sometimes keep us from seeing. More than once I have seen Steve be that light in the fog that keeps you off the rocks. Steve has become a trusted friend as well as someone I rely on professionally.”

- Gene Reda, President Savit Corporation

“During the semester, I brought in 20 entrepreneurs to speak to my Introduction to Entrepreneurship class, which was made up of 40 juniors and seniors, and Steve was voted as best speaker by my students.  Steve had a wonderful way of conveying his own entrepreneurial experiences, along with lessons learned and stories about entrepreneurs he worked with to make for a very substantive and entertaining hour.  My students were absolutely riveted and barraged him with questions.  I plan to have him back as often as I can.”

Dear Steve:

As I sit here and review KRC’s results-to-date and its new strategic plan, I want to thank you so much for your counsel, guidance and wisdom in helping me turn KRC Research around in less than five months. You really helped me cut through “the noise” and achieve clarity about what KRC is about and what it needed to be in the future.

I remember that Monday morning we spent in mid-January mapping out the new strategy for KRC. And as you well remember, the company had some major challenges – shrinking revenues and profits, low morale and poor cost controls – not to mention a total lack of a proactive business development strategy.

Your guidance was essential in helping me reach our first quarter financial goals, restructure the staff without too much trauma and to get a very unruly senior management team all on the same page. I believe the retreat you facilitated for me in Baltimore was one of the real, substantive turning points in KRC’s transformation.

I very much value your guidance and your business acumen. I cannot thank you enough for standing by me as I implemented these changes. We have made incredible progress as a company. And your suggestions are all throughout the plan that got us this far – and I know your suggestions will be part of the next phase of growth for KRC.

Thanks again Steve.

Best,
Chief Executive Officer

Steve was on the Advisory Board at Watson Machinery International and in 1991 was instrumental in my consideration (and ultimately my acceptance) of the position with that company as its Chief Executive Officer.

Since that time Steve has been a sounding board and an advisor to me in a variety of areas, including personal career matters, employee performance issues, market analysis and evaluation of company growth potential, communication strategies to employees, customers, and vendors surrounding a sale of the business, just to name a few. When I needed to find executives, he was my retained recruiter, bringing to the table qualified candidates and helping me make the decision as to which candidate met my needs.

Many consultants are good listeners and spend a great deal of time learning your business, only to tell you what you already know. Steve is a quick study and learns your business very quickly. But he is more than a consultant; from the start he is an active counselor and advisor, often providing views you may not have considered. Perhaps it is because he focuses on what matters and filters out unnecessary details.

I consider Steve an honest, straightforward businessman who brings a great deal of experience and intelligent thought to the table. He is easy going, down to earth, and “real”. I am grateful that a friend brought Steve and me together and I am privileged to count him as a friend, also.”
