Are you afraid of networking? Or is it just not working for you?
You aren’t alone. We get amazing questions similar to these from folks we meet as well as by telephone, e-mail, and even via letter. We particularly like the letters.
The questions are always about problems developing or maintaining relationships. We know this sounds like marriage counseling but you really need to go elsewhere for that. Our expertise is helping you find, develop, grow, and maintain the day to day relationships that lead to good things in work and life.
Some questions are more grandiose: How can I ensure that senior executives will always take my sales call? (They won’t always do it no matter what anyone says.) How do I become known as an industry expert? How do I meet the right people at conventions?
And some questions are about basic things: How do I start a conversation? How do I end a conversation? How do I ask for help?
Unfortunately, there is not a single right answer to any of these questions. There are many useful answers depending on you and your situation. So we get into long discussions about what to do. Later, when we check in to see how wonderful our advice was, we often discover that the problem is solved. Sometimes the solution wasn’t exactly what we suggested but something that they developed based on the conversation with us and the seed we planted. And that’s what we try and do with everyone.
Our goal is to help you develop the skill to find the solutions that work for you. Ideally, our accountants tell us, we should hook you into years of need for us on at least a weekly, if not daily basis. But to us that’s failure. We want you to use us to develop your skills and then call us with updates and new questions as your expertise and success grow.
The way it works is really simple. Contact us and we’ll talk. If we can help solve your problem in the initial call or e-mail, we will. After that, our accountant insists we call you a client and charge you something.
